The first FameLab Academy organized by Charles University on 13 April 2026 showcased talented high school students presenting scientific topics in an engaging way. Among the top finalists, Tereza Jelínková – a participant in year-long scientific programme Open Science for high school students in our lab – achieved third place, demonstrating strong skills in science communication and presentation. Congratulation!

We have recently published an article concerning organoruthenium glycomimetics exhibiting high selectivity and nanomolar affinity for human galectin-1.

We have currently published an article introducing new modular type of poly(amide-carbosilane) dendrimers (PAMCAS) where we utilized organic solvent nanofiltration for their efficient preparation and purification.

At the prestigious Transfera Technology Day 2025 competition held on 9 December 2025 in Prague, nine top Czech research projects pitched their innovations to an expert jury. Our project of selective galectin inhibitors, pitched by Dr. Vojtěch Hamala (ICPF CAS) and Kateřina Kučerová (CETAV CAS, shown bellow), was awarded second place by the jury for its outstanding potential and innovation.

Our master's student Kateřina Hiršová won the second place in the Organic Chemistry M3 section at the traditional UCT (University of Chemistry and Technology) Student Scientific Conference with her contribution The Role of Symmetry in the Design and Synthesis of Multivalent TDG-Ruthenate Complexes for Targeted Inhibition of Galectin-1. Congratulation!

Jindřich Karban received a grant from the Czech Health Research Council as co-investigator of a project entitled "Optimization and characterization of selective galectin-1 inhibitors based on organic ruthenium for use in cancer treatment."

Martin Kurfiřt successfully defended his Ph. D. thesis on fluorinated N-acetylglucosamine and received a doctoral degree. Congratulations!
