Development of new composite materials for CO2 separation, removal and organocatalysis

We focus on the preparation, characterization and use of advanced materials for gas capture, especially CO2. For this purpose, we test different adsorbents, inorganic (e.g. layered silicates) and organic (porous polymers) modified by dendrimers – highly branched synthetic macromolecules with a well-defined size, a large internal volume and a large number of functional groups on the surface. These properties of dendrimers can lead to enhanced adsorption capacity and selectivity of the new material. The application of dendrimers or adsorbents modified with dendrimers for the preparation of composite materials suitable for efficient gas separation is also studied.
